Drug & Alcohol Testing
Our Medical Review Officer (MRO) advocate for the accuracy and integrity of the drug testing process. Our Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) have been successfully administering pre-employment, random, return-to-work and post-incident drug and alcohol testing for the past 30 years.
We are specialists in collecting and testing urine and oral fluids and providing third-party oversight.
Workplace drug and alcohol testing in British Columbia is a very complex sector.
Not many people do it, and those that do require a thorough understanding of federal and provincial standards, statutes, guidelines, policies, and procedures to provide clients with accurate, litigation-proof results and strategies.
Navigating this highly regulated world, you need experienced MROs who know what they are doing and what to expect.
That’s what we offer at Ultima, knowledgeable, experienced, thorough professionals.

Spirometry/Pulmonary Function Test
$120.00
We are proud to announce that Ultima Medical Services Inc. has been accredited by the BC College of Physicians & Surgeons Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP) to perform Spirometry/Pulmonary Function Tests.
The College now requires all medical practitioners who perform the test and interpret the results of the Spirometry/Lung Function Testing to be accredited.
Spirometry is a valuable tool that contributes to better lung health management and overall well-being. Regular testing can help catch potential issues early and guide appropriate interventions.
- Diagnosis and Monitoring:
- It helps diagnose and monitor lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.
- By measuring airflow, spirometry provides valuable information about lung function.
- Treatment Planning:
- Spirometry results guide treatment decisions.
- For example, it helps determine the appropriate use of bronchodilators (medications that open the airways).
- Assessing Disease Severity:
- Spirometry classifies the severity of lung diseases.
- It helps healthcare professionals understand how well the lungs are functioning.
- Baseline Measurements:
- Establishing baseline lung function allows comparison over time.
- Changes in spirometry results can indicate disease progression.
- Procedure:
- The entire test takes about 15 minutes, performed by an accredited Medical Office Assistant (MOA). The results are interpreted by accredited Occupational Health Physicians.
- Cost:
- Our fee is $120.00 per spirometry, including the physician interpretation.
Independent Medical Assessments (IME)
Our specialist medical exams and evaluations fall into two broad categories: medical-legal exams for lawyers, and occupational health assessments for employers and insurance companies.
These exams and evaluations are designed exclusively for clients who need specialist legal and/or occupational health services.
Independent Psychiatric Evaluation (IPE)
An occupational health-related independent psychiatric evaluation is similar to a medical-legal IPE except the end goal is different.
An IPE is carried out when an employer or insurance company needs to establish if a mental health issue is affecting an employee’s ability to perform work.
